Signal a Pan-Pan

The Rescue Zone Pan-Pan feature notifies other boaters and rescue authorities of a non-critical emergency. Unlike the more serious Mayday alert, a Pan-Pan is for situations that need assistance but don't pose an immediate threat to life or the vessel.

A helpful alert for non-critical emergencies

When you activate a Pan-Pan, the app broadcasts your location and a brief description of the situation to nearby boaters as well as the relevant rescue services. Fellow mariners know about your predicament and can offer help, while authorities can monitor the situation and step in if needed.

What a Pan-Pan shares

  • Automatic GPS location, with a mini-map showing shoreline visuals so your position can be identified quickly.
  • The who, where and what, shared with your next of kin and ready at hand when talking to the Police and/or the local Coastguard.
  • A built-in forum you can use like a VHF to coordinate local efforts within the community, making it easy for boaties to work together and improve emergency response in their area.

When to use it

The Pan-Pan feature is invaluable for a wide range of scenarios, such as mechanical failures, running low on fuel, or medical issues that need an evacuation but are not life-threatening. By notifying the boating community and rescue teams, you can get the help you need without escalating to a full distress call.
